Geetings 968 enthusiasts and PCA 968 Register Members!
I have
been a PCA member since 1991 and avid 968 enthusiast since
purchasing my 1994 Guards Red Coupe new. I retired in 2000 as an
Executive from an International German Telecommunications firm in
NYC and moved from the PCA NNJR Region to the Central PA Region.
Attending various events, I noticed that the 968 model was not seen
very often, so I decided to do something to allow 968 owners to get
together and provide a venue for our cars to be displayed for all
Porsche owners to enjoy. I hosted the first one day 968 Celebration
in Hershey in 2001 where we had 12 beautiful 968s parked in a row in
that year’s concours at the Swap Meet. I extended the event to 2
days and hosted more Celebrations in 2002, 2003 and 2004 with 60
owners attending each of the last two years. The most frequent
comment was “I have never seen so many 968 Coupes, Cabriolets, Sport
Coupes and Turbo Conversions at the same time”. The 2007 968
Celebration in Hershey will be held on April 27th and 28th.
Invitations will be emailed to all Register members.
What
do you get as a 968 Register member? Lots of information and
knowledge on the 968, opportunity to meet new friends who also own
968s, a chance to show off your beautiful car, check out the
numerous modifications (including Turbo and Supercharged
conversions) and win awards. The PCA 968 Register was started in
1998 when Dennis Wheary was appointed Advocate and Dick Petticrew Co
Advocate. In March of 2002, PCA appointed Dick Advocate and me as Co
Advocate. In October 2006, PCA appointed me Advocate, Jeff Coe as Co
Advocate and Ron Salvador as Webmaster. Our intention is to further
improve the Register for the 150 plus current members and for all
who join us.
Our
Co Advocate is Jeff Coe, a member of Connecticut Valley Region
since 1994. Jeff has served as the Historian for the 968 Register
since the beginning. He and his son Greg have attended the majority
of the 968 Celebrations and have compiled a list of over 500
Cabriolets and Coupes in the USA. Jeff is an Information Technology
Manager.
Our
Webmaster is Ron Salvador, who volunteered in 2006 to update our
existing website. Ron is a member of the Hudson Champlain Region and
he and his family are very active in PCA events. Both he and his son
Xavier attended the 2004 Celebration. Ron is an Information
Technology Consultant.
Note:
If you are interested in joining the 968 Register but are not a PCA
member, you can join at
